Sitting lightly on a semi-rural allotment, this single-level home is conceived as a contemporary farmhouse: long, low and effortlessly connected to the land. A pale palette of bleached vertical timber, white-washed brick and a corrugated steel roof nods to the agricultural sheds that dot the valley, while crisp detailing and deep eaves give the building a refined, modern edge.

The plan is a simple L-shape that wraps a sheltered courtyard. From the outside, a masonry screen wall provides privacy and wind protection; beyond it, full-height glazing and sliding doors dissolve the threshold between indoors and out, framing wide views of pasture and sky. Living spaces face north to capture warmth and light, and every bedroom opens directly onto the lawn or courtyard, encouraging an easy, barefoot flow through the day.

Robust, honest materials—brick, timber, galvanized steel—are left to weather gracefully, ensuring the house will blend further into its setting over time. The result is a calm, timeless retreat that pairs rural humility with considered design, giving its owners a place to slow down, gather and feel at home in the landscape.
