Voxell was engaged to provide BIM consultancy services during the construction and handover for MPI’s new $80+ million dollar PC3 National Bio-containment Laboratory in Wellington. This new state of the art facility is designed to withstand a 1 in 2,500 year earthquake, resting on 10 base isolators and 20 slider bearings. It hosts complex and sensitive air management, fumigation and heat treatment systems to meet international best practices for handling pathogens. Designed to enhanced PC3 status, this new facility will be the most advanced bio-containment facility in New Zealand.
Partnering with the main contractor - Fletchers Construction, Voxell was engaged as BIM consultants to assist in building services coordination and their internal laboratory fit-out. Embracing Voxell’s key principle of great customer experience, our BIM lead was based on-site with the construction team, allowing clear communication and more efficient workflows.
As construction proceeded Voxell’s role expanded to overall BIM management, responsible for model federation and final delivery of an accurate As-Built BIM model. Key to Voxell’s success throughout this project was a mastery of Revit, Navisworks and navigating 3D point cloud scans.
"The team at Voxell has been great to work and collaborate with as our BIM consulting partners. The quality of the work has been delivered to a high standard and they are very responsive to feedback and adapting to the construction environment, which is quite different to a traditional architecture office. Our Voxell BIM lead is very approachable and certainly feels like part of our own team, which is exactly what you want.
We’ve had a great experience and will definitely look to work with Voxell into the future for BIM expertise across our projects"
